Two containers were seized at Northport in Port Klang, Selangor, Malaysia on May 26th and 31st. The containers were found to contain smuggled alcohol with a total value of RM1.17 million, including taxes.
During the inspection by the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM), it was discovered that the two containers, sized at 40 feet (12.1 meters) each, contained various types of alcohol, totaling approximately 38,776 liters.
The Director of Operations Enforcement for JKDM Central Zone stated that the first seizure involved 26,160 liters of alcohol, estimated to be worth RM111,120, including taxes and duties amounting to RM793,030.
The second seizure involved 12,616.20 liters of alcohol, estimated to be worth RM93,940, with taxes and duties amounting to RM172,505.
